I posted my other Stepmom poem on a stepmom website, and they asked me to write another :) it is a great feeling to share with other women in the same boat as me-trying to be the best mom/stepmom I can, when there are all the horrible "stepmom stereotypes" out there.. -thanks a lot Disney!!!- So, either you can relate, or you can gain a little understanding of what it is like :) either way, i hope you like what you read..
In This Together

I may not be your mother, but I love you like you’re mine.
My life felt incomplete before; I was searching for a sign.
My life had little purpose; I lived for no one but myself.
I kept my dreams of having a family high upon a shelf.
But then I met your father, and soon after I met you.
It was as though my hopes and dreams were really coming true.
We have a sense of unity; we share more than our last name.
We share memories, and laughter, and a family picture in a frame.
I love to see you smile, I hate it when you’re sad.
I would take all the hard times away if I could, you can even ask your dad.
I am far from perfect; sometimes I have no idea what to do.
I wish I had all the answers- but I’m human, just like you.
So much goes into raising kids, more than changing poopy butts.
Like cooking meals, and calming fears, and bandaging up the cuts.
I am not your mother’s replacement, nor will I try to be.
I know you need her in your life, your love for her is easy to see.
It’s okay to say you miss her, I know how hard this is for you.
I will be there for you as much as I can, even though sometimes it’s hard to do.
It hasn’t always been easy, we all have our ups and downs.
But families are meant to work things out, make smiles out of the frowns.
I may not be your mother, but we’re family-and that’s a treasure.
Just remember when times are tough, “No matter what happens, we’re in this together!”
("No matter what happens, we're in this together" is sort of a quote for my family.. kinda like an inside joke.. without the joke :)
